AK-47The AK-47 is the most popular assault rifle in the world. Designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov?, it was first manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1947. It was exported during the Cold War to communist allies. The AK-47 is simply and inexpensively constructed mainly from stamped metal parts. It is rugged and requires very little maintenance. In the Vietnam War it became famous for holding its own against the American-made M16. |
