Aircrib

(redirected from Main.Air-crib)

The Aircrib was an invention by B.F. Skinner. It consisted of a temperature and humidity-controlled box about the size of a crib. He and his wife used it to take care of their daughter, Deborah, from 1944-45. She grew up normally and never had a cold until she was six years old.

The idea was do away with heavy, restrictive layers of clothing and thus allow for happier, more mobile babies with fewer respiratory and skin problems. Less clothing also reduced the amount of laundry that the parents had to do.

The Aircrib was sold under the "Aircrib" and "Heir Conditioner" brand names in the 50's and 60's, but never really caught on.
