Battle Of Midway

The Battle of Midway was a naval battle between the United States and Japan during World War II. The Japanese Navy, following a string of successes after Pearl Harbor, attempted to bring the U.S. Navy to a decisive battle in the central Pacific. It was a huge battle, fought without battleship participation, involving bombers and aircraft carriers. Four Japanese aircraft carriers were sunk. It was a decisive American victory, reversing Japanese expansion in the Pacific and eliminating their advantage in numbers.
