Battle Of New Orleans

The Battle of New Orleans was an American victory during the War of 1812.

Experienced British troops attacked a fortified American position outside of New Orleans, LA, leading to heavy casualties. The British withdrew to their ships and never threatened American territory again. The battle actually took place after the signing of the peace treaty, and so did not affect the outcome of the war, but it was a morale boost for the Americans and indicated that the country would be safe from British interference in the future.
