Cape Of Good Hope

The Cape of Good Hope is at the southern tip of Africa. It was discovered by a Portugese explorer, Bartolomeu Dias?, in 1488. He originally named it the "Cape of Storms", but King John II of Portugal renamed it the "Cape of Good Hope" because it opened the way for a sea route to India and the Far East.
