Chesley Sullenberger

Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III is a U.S. airways pilot. On January 15, 2009, he managed to land Flight 1549 safely following a double bird strike that stopped both engines. He was able to maintain control of the plane and glide safely into the Hudson River. He then checked the plane for stragglers following everyone's evacuation to ferries and Coast Guard boats.

His early career included piloting an F-4 Phantom? fighter plane in the Air Force.
