Gulf War

The Gulf War (1990-1991) was the result of the Iraqi? invasion of Kuwait?. A coalition, led by the United States and authorized by the United Nations, defended Saudi Arabia?, then pushed on into Kuwait and Iraq.

The United States president at the time was George H W Bush, and he rallied the world to Kuwait's defense by saying, "This aggression will not stand," and "drawing a line in the sand."

The war was a coalition victory, but Saddam Hussain? was able to recover, suppress an internal rebellion, and rule Iraq for another twelve years.
