Invasion Of Poland

The Invasion of Poland happened in September 1939. Germany employed "blitzkrieg" or "lightning war" tactics with highly mobile formations of tanks, mechanized infantry, and dive-bombers. Within weeks, Polish forces suffered major defeats and were in retreat. At this point, the Soviet Union invaded from the East. Poland was overrun, and the territory was split between Germany and the Soviet Union.
