Ionic Bonding

An ionic bond is the force of attraction between oppositely charged ions. It only occurs between metals and non-metals and involves the transfer of electrons from the metal to the non metal.

The metal atoms form positive ions, called cations? and the non-metal atoms form negative ions called anions?.
