Meuse River

The Meuse River is a river? in northern France and Belgium. Due to its strategic location along the invasion route from Germany, it was the site of battles including Sedan? during the Franco-Prussian War, and Verdun?, during World War I.

During World War II, the German army successfully crossed the Meuse in 1940 during the Fall of France. It attempted a similar maneuver again in the winter of 1944-45, resulting in defeat at the Battle of the Bulge.
