Incident

In a stunning display of carelessness, Rachel Ray encouraged four guests on her show to carve up cantaloupes as fast as they could, using large kitchen knives.

One of them cut his finger, and rather than stopping the race, she kept it going, with the camara zooming in on the injury.

Another racer also cut her finger before the cantaloupe section was completed, then they made hamburgers, bleeding on the food the whole time.

Afterwards, the Rachel Ray show provided first aid in the form of hand sanitizer and band-aids.

Safety issues

• Kitchen knives can inflict permanent and life-altering wounds, including nerve damage, to the hands of people using them in an improper and reckless manner.
