Seelow Heights

The Seelow Heights is an area in Germany east of Berlin, on the west bank of the Oder River. During World War II, it was the last defensive position before Berlin itself.

In April 1945, the Soviets launched a massive assault through the region. Although they took many casualties, they succeeded, and pushed on to Berlin. Germany collapsed soon after.
