Siberia

Siberia is a region in northeastern Asia. It is part of Russia, having been conquered in the 16th century. Siberia has a very cold climate and is mainly evergreen forests and tundra. Few people live there.

During the Soviet era, the Communists sent many people to prison camps in Siberia called gulags. Most of them never came back.
