Sure Fire M 6 Guardian

The SureFire M6 Guardian is a flashlight capable of emitting 500 lumens from a special xenon incandescent lightbulb. Power is supplied by a set of six CR-123 lithium batteries?. The body is made from aluminum?.

The light output is many times brighter than standard flashlights using conventional lightbulbs? and batteries. The light is so intense that in addition to providing illumination, it can be used to dazzle people's eyesight and cause disorientation. Users describe it as an "assault flashlight" in the "Modern Militant" design school along with the Hummer H1.

The New York Times has reported that Jimbo Wales owns an M6.

Controversy

Similar lightweight, high-output flashlights have found favor with law enforcement. Some have noticed, however, that lights such as the Maglite with their greater weight and momentum provide better impact and can double as clubs when necessary. Others counter that police officers really shouldn't be using flashlights to hit people with anyway, but should be using purpose-built batons instead.

People on the receiving end of the Guardian M6's beam complain of temporary blindness and irritation.
