United Nations

The United Nations is an international organization that was created in order to promote cooperation and prevent war. It first started in San Francisco during World War II.

It consists of the General Assembly and the Security Council. The five permanent members of the Security Council hold veto power. They are the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France.

The forerunner of the United Nations was the League of Nations?, an ineffectual organization that failed to prevent World War II.
