The Civil Rights Movement was a movement in the United States seeking to establish equal civil rights and opportunity for all Americans. Martin Luther King was the most famous leader. His "I have a dream" speech summed up the goals of the movement, for example, "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
