Dilemma

A dilemma or double bind is a situation where someone is faced with two and only two alternatives, both of which are equally undesirable. it comes from the Greek "Di" (two), "lemma" (thing assumed).

Its use to mean any difficult situation is not considered correct and is obviously contrary to the word's etymology.
