North Korean entertainment establishment

From Encyc

Since the close of World War 2, and the Kim family's assumption of control, over North Korea, the North Korean entertainment establishment is reported to include large numbers of beautiful young women, especially recruited to quietly provide sexual services to the Kims and their senior cadre.

Recruiters visit schools, looking for recruits. Once picked they are trained, as singer, dancers, or musicians. During their performing careers they are isolated from their families. If they complete a decade or so of performing senior cadre may pick them as a wife, upon retirement.

Some members of the "pleasure squad" have become mistresses or wives of members of the Kim family, or the most senior cadre. Both current leader Kim Jong-un's wife Ri Sol-ju, and his longest and most influential mistress, Hyon Song-wol, were formerly members of the North Korean entertainment establishment.

Some of the women who rose to influence through their role in a pleasure squad, fell from favor, and are believed to have been executed.[1] In August 2013 approximately a dozen members of the Unhasu Orchestra and the Wangjaesan Light Music Band were arrested after being accused of making and selling sex videos. They were then reported to have been executed by fire from automatic cannons.
