Otto Skorzeny was a German SS special forces officer during World War II. He commanded several dramatic operations including the rescue of Mussolini from a mountaintop prison in Italy, and the kidnapping of Admiral Horthy's son in Hungary.

Skorzeny had scars on his cheek from fencing when he was in college.

During the Battle of the Bulge he organized commando raids with some units wearing captured American uniforms. They were sent behind American lines to sow confusion. He was also involved in the Malmedy massacre.

Following the war he escaped from prison and lived in Spain for many years.
