Satire...
[edit source]Hmmm... Was the novel intended to be interpreted as a satire? I always thought Heinlein was serious, and was really presenting the rule by veterans as a good idea.
My take? Science fiction, written by authors who were actually knowledgeable about science? There was a long tradition to take just one scientific law, and changing things, then following to see how it played out. Making FTL possible, or time travel possible, are good examples. Some of these stories stretch from Physics, to Chemistry, or Biology.
I think Starship Troopers is the rare instance of a hard science fiction story that twists a law from Political Science. Geo Swan (talk) 19:36, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
