William Halsey, Jr.

(Redirected from William F. Halsey, Jr.)

William "Bull" Halsey or Bill Halsey was an admiral in the United States Navy during World War II. Known for his aggressive strategy, he also let the fleet be caught in a typhoon and let most of his force be distracted by a decoy during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, where he left the landing zones dangerously underdefended.

The news reporters popularized the nickname "Bull", however Halsey preferred to be called simply "Bill".
