Atom

The atom is the smallest unit of matter. Elements tend to stay what they are, and it is very rare for atoms to split anywhere other than stars and nuclear reactors.

Atoms are composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are large and stay in the nucleus. Electrons are tiny and orbit the nucleus.
