Content diversion

Content diversion is the act of moving user-generated content to websites where it can be displayed along with advertising. It is one strategy used for monetization. Often it involves intellectual property theft, because the license terms can be difficult to honor.

Examples:

  • Wikipedia content is declared "unencyclopedic" and moved to Wikia. One of the spots on Wikia that this content goes to is called the Speedy Deletion Wiki
