Egg

From Encyc
Chicken and quail eggs

An egg is a usually hard-shelled object produced by birds, reptiles, amphibians and some other species as a means to procreate. They consist of a hard shell, a runny clear albumin, and a dense yellow yolk. The shells are usually white or brown. Eggs that come from chickens are a major food source for humans. Other egg-laying species also have to deal with predators that eat their eggs.

Rotten eggs can be used as throwing weapons and tools for vandalism.

Since the 1980s there has been a movement against eggs, claiming that the cholesterol in the yolk somehow gets into the bloodstream of humans and increases serum cholesterol and then risk of heart attack, though there is scant scientific evidence to prove that this actually happens. In reality, eggs are a good source of nutrition.
