Henry Hudson

From Encyc

Henry Hudson was a Dutch explorer. While working for the English in the early 1600s, he discovered the Hudson River and explored the New York area. On subsequent voyages he looked for a northwest passage to China. He was unable to find one, and spent a difficult winter icelocked in Hudson Bay, in northern Canada. When he wanted to continue on in the spring, his crew mutinied, and put him, his son, and a few loyalists on a small boat. He was never seen again.
