PETA

From Encyc

PETA stands for "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals". They are a shock protest group who are described in many areas as a terrorist organisation, who do things like throwing blood at people who wear fur coats and ranting about how vegans are smarter or are magically transformed into models and good-looking people. It is also popular amongst celebrities, who have done such things as gone nude for PETA and gone back to wearing fur the next day proving that they are hypocrites. The organisation has also been ridiculed and laughed at for their scare tactics on such shows as South Park. PETA has recently been involved in trying to get people to boycott Australian wool, on the basis that Australian sheep farmers would cut off the tails of sheep in order to get rid of flies so as to save the lives of the sheep. PETA describes this as cruel and also says this about swatting a fly, something which the Australian wool industry has vehemently protested. This had threatened to create another wool crisis, except that, luckily for the Australian wool industry, nobody much pays attention to what PETA says thanks to being a group of human-hating and ranting nut-jobs. Also it has ties with the ALF which has destroyed propriety and ruined lives for people who are involved in animal testing and starting fires much like Count Olaf.

PETA is influenced by utilitarian philosopher Peter Singer, an Australian who is currently a bioethics professor at Princeton University, in New Jersey.
