I hate to revert someone's own edits to their (former) userpage but your div layer was destroying the user interface, hiding buttons, encouraging eyestrain etc. It was affecting the entire page, including the links. Please don't do this.. You probably want to find a better way of doing this that doesn't bleed out into other areas of the page where people have to click.

Maybe something like this. I stole this from Wikipedia's "retired" template:
