Age of Enlightenment

The Age of Englightenment was a period of European and American history beginning in the 17th century and ending in the early 19th century. It featured increased learning, literacy, scientific research, and artistic output. Reason, rational thinking, and science were valued above medieval superstitions.

Large nation states emerged and took power from the church as well.

It ended with early 19th century Romanticism and a return to emotional thinking.
