Alpha Centauri system

(Redirected from Alpha Centauri)
The Alpha Centauri system is the closest stellar system to our sun Sol, and Planet Earth. Unlike the Solar system, three stars orbit one another.
The inner pair of stars, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B are yellow dwarf stars, and Astronomers believe they evolved together. They orbit around one another every 79.1 years, at an average distance of 11 astronomical units.
Alpha Centauri C is a red dwarf star, much dimmer than the other two stars, and orbits the inner pair every 550,000 years at a distance of 13,000 astronomical units.
