Ammunition

The term ammunition refers to the projectiles, fired from firearms, or to the system of projectiles and its propellant.

Most modern ammunition uses a cartridge to mate the projectile, to the propellant. Typically the cartridge will include a small primer, designed to be struck by a firing pin, to trigger the explosion of the propellant.
