Anthropogenic

From Encyc

Anthropogenic is a term meaning "having its origins in activities of human beings." It is frequently used in the context of the modern mass extinction of Earth-based species and the causes of global warming. The current geological age has been coined the anthropogene[1] because mankind is terraforming the face of the Earth as well as changing the climate. The annual deaths of hundreds of millions of North American birds resulting from flying into buildings, particularly glass windows, is described as anthropogenic.[2]

Insects are undergoing a mass extinction event due to habitat destruction, insecticide use, invasive species, diseases, and climate change. Among these are pollinators including native bee populations that are critical for agriculture.
