Anti-ship missile

From Encyc

Anti-ship missiles are particularly designed to damage or destroy ships, maritime vessels.

During the Falklands War the Argentine military was generally equipped with older weapons, but the Argentine Navy did operate a small number of fighter jets that carried the relatively new, and powerful Exocet anti-ship missile. Several Royal Navy warships were sunk or severely damaged by Exocet missiles. The civilian vessel Atlantic Conveyor, which was carrying spare Harrier jets, as deck cargo, was also sunk.
