Arctic

The Arctic is that part of the Northern hemisphere of Planet Earth that experiences days of continual darkness or continual light, close to the winter solstice and summer solstice.

In the Southern hemisphere, when parts of the Arctic experience continual light, corresponding part of the Antarctic experience continual darkness, and vice versa.

The Arctic Circle lies just south of the 60th parallel of latitude.
