Artificial intelligence is the use of electronic computers to simulate the thinking processes of human beings. As computers gain in processing power they will inevitably become better at mimicking humans. It is predicted that within the next hundred years they will be able to surpass humans at many tasks.

Eventually human brains will be able to be mapped and stored within computers, where they could function indefinitely in some sort of immortal but inanimate state.
