Baryon acoustic oscillations

From Encyc

In Astronomy the term baryon acoustic oscillations refers to sound waves transmitted in the early universe, when it was much smaller, denser, and could transmit sound.[1] When the universe is no longer dense enough to transmit sound the fluctuations can still be detected.[2]
