Boarding platforms

Transportation experts use the term boarding platforms for the portions of transit route where vehicles stop to let riders board, or disembark from its vehicles.

Some stations have a central platform with a boarding platform, on each side. Other stations place pairs of boarding platforms on the outside of the route used by vehicles.

Finally, a station design pioneered in Spain, has platforms on both sides f the vehicles, which is particularly useful when vehicles stop on the routes busiest stations.
