Caffarelli
Caffarelli (1710-1783) was an Italian castrato and composer, born Gaetano Majorano.
He came to London in the 1730s anf became a member of George Frederick Handel's opera company. He created the title roles in Handel's operas Faramondo and Serse. After only a few years in London, he had made so much money that he was able to retire to Naples and buy a dukedom.
