Carbine

A carbine is a smaller, lighter, shorter version of a rifle. They tend to have a little less power and accuracy, but are easier to handle. Carbines became popular in the 19th century as arms for cavalry.

During World War II, the M1 Carbine became popular as a lightweight alternative to the M1 Garand.
