Carl Dean was an American who worked as an asphalt paver.[1] He was better known as the reclusive husband of popular country singer Dolly Parton. The pair were married for almost 60 years, until his death, at 82 years old, on March 4, 2025.
According to Parton she met Dean when she was 18, on the day she moved to Nashville.[1] They married two years later. He is said to have inspired several of her songs, include Jolene.
