Caroline Bingley
Appearance
Caroline Bingley is the name of a supporting character in Jane Austen's famous novel Pride and Prejudice.
In Pride and Prejudice Elizabeth Bennet meets, and dislikes, Mr Darcy, the man she ends up falling in love with, and marrying. Caroline Bingley is a young woman, about Elizabeth's age, who has been scheming to marry Mr Darcy for some time. She sees Elizabeth as a rival, and, paradoxically, her sniping and criticism of Elizabeth seem to play a role in triggering a greater interest in Elizabeth, from Darcy.
Caroline thinks she has certain advantages over Elizabeth. She has a substantial dowry, when Elizabeth has none, and she went to a finishing school, where she acquired fashionable "accomplishments".
