Cheese

Cheese is a food made from milk solids. There are many different kinds of cheese such as: mozzarella, cheddar, swiss, american, provalone, blue and many more.
Cheese has been made since ancient times. It is a nice, dense, and stable form of portable nutrition. Roman armies carried hard cheeses with them.
Most milk intended for human consumption is pasteurized, however, the recipe for some cheeses, like parmesan, specify the use of unpasteurized milk. Most cheese are made from cow's milk, but some cheeses are made from milk from other species. Traditional mozzarella is made from Buffalo milk. Cheese is also made from Goat's milk.
When separating the milk solids to make cheese, the liquid portion, the whey, is also palatable. Whey can be substituted for water in some recipes. Whey can be added to animal feed.
