Chemistry

From Encyc

Chemistry studies how chemicals interact. It keeps track of matter and energy.

Chemistry is involved in many areas of modern life.

Many cleaning chemicals are sold at stores.

Chemistry is involved in energy production and distribution.

Modern chemistry has produced a host of useful synthetic materials, including plastics, nylon, Teflon, Kevlar, and others.

Metallurgy is a branch of chemistry that deals with metals. Useful products include steel, aluminum, titanium, various alloys, iron, copper, tin, and others.

Academic areas[edit]

Two branches of chemistry are studied in universities, inorganic and organic. The latter is particularly important to provide knowledge of pharmaceutical products and, as a result, such as pre-medical, pre-veterinary, and pharmacy programs all have significant course requirements in that area.
