Cher (born May 20, 1946) is a singer who became famous in the 1960s as half of the duo Sonny and Cher. During that same era, Cher had a few solo hits such as "Bang, Bang, My Baby Shot Me Down." In the 1970s, Cher released a hit song called "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves." Through the 70s and 80s, she had a few hits, including "Half Breed", "After All", and "If I Could Turn Back Time." In 1998, Cher released her biggest hit of all, "Believe." This song heavily used Autotune, a pitch-correction computer software plug-in, that now gives 21st century artists like T-Pain their synthetic voice sound. "Believe" sold over 100 million copies. In 2001, she released an album called "Living Proof", and is scheduled to release another album in 2012. The new album will feature Lady Gaga on one of the songs. Cher has released over 40 albums, including over 24 studio albums, some live albums and a few compilation albums.
