Chiang Kai-shek

From Encyc

Chiang Kai-shek was the leader of China during World War II and shortly after. He led the Nationalists. During the Chinese Civil War, he and his government were driven out of mainland China by the Communists, and he moved to Taiwan.

His administration was closely allied with the United States and Great Britain, but it had problems with corruption and a seeming lack of sympathy for Chinese peasants.

He did not get along well with US general Joseph "Vinegar Joe" Stilwell.
