Clownstep

Clownstep, or doofstep, is a term used to describe a particular type of drum and bass music.

Typically, clownstep has a screechy bassline, simple beat structure, and a large amount of swingbeats.

The term was taken from the Drum and Bass Arena forum, as a description of Shimon and Andy C's single Bodyrock. The phrase was then popularised by Dylan on the drum and bass webforum Dogs On Acid.

On the internet and specifically on forums dealing with drum and bass culture, particularly the Dogs On Acid forum, the term doesn't describe anything particular about the music, but instead is used more as insult.
