Coin

A coin is a disc-shaped piece of metal that is used as currency, or money. It is engraved on both sides to reduce the chance of counterfeiting. Often coins have ridges on the edges to prevent people from filing off the valuable metal.

Coins have been largely replaced by paper money, credit cards, and computer-based payment systems.
