Consciousness

Consciousness is perhaps of the mind. It is being aware of what is.

It's lost during sleep and anesthesia, and sometimes during traumatic accidents or fainting for emotional reasons.

It is assumed that when computers become powerful enough that they will eventually gain consciousness.
