Cookie
A cookie is a baked good that is flat and made by combining butter, oil, flour, eggs, sugar, and/or other ingredients. They melt down in the oven into disc shapes, or they can be made in factories to be any shape, or the baker can use a cookie cutter to get particular shapes.
The word "cookie" is from the Dutch koekje which literally translates as "little cake". It was adopted into American English through the Dutch colony of the New Netherlands (later New York). In the United Kingdom, the word "biscuit" refers to the same thing.
