Copycat killing

Copycat killing is a name given to a murder or series of murders which are inspired by another, usually well known, murder. For example, a variety of people have been inspired by Charles Manson's murders to conduct similar murders of their own.

Copycat killings have often been mistakingly described as the reason for murders that were in actual fact a part of a serial killing spree, and vice versa.
