Emile Zola
Emile Zola was a French writer in the late 19th century. He was famous for his long and detailed novels, which described life in vivid detail, and for being one of the main figures in the naturalist movement.
Later in his life he became embroiled in the Dreyfus Affair, writing a famous newspaper article, "J'Accuse", which accused the French army of covering up an espionage scandal and scapegoating an innocent officer because he was Jewish.
